Mena Massoud is an Egyptian born, Canadian actor from Toronto. Massoud is well known for his roles in Jack Ryan (2017), Open Heart (2015) and Saving Hope (2012).

According to Massoud's Instagram, he currently resides in Toronto and Los Angeles. He was born in Egypt to Egyptian Coptic parents, but was raised in Canada. He has one sibling, Margaret Massoud.

Massoud is currently scheduled for two major roles in the next two years.

One is the Aladdin live-action reboot from Disney Studios and a full-time role in an upcoming Amazon show, Jack Ryan.

One of his most critically acclaimed roles was in the TV show, Open Heart, which he was a part of in 2015 as a full-time character on the show.

Massoud made his acting debut in a show called Nikita on CW-TV in 2011.

On July 15, 2017, at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, Disney announced that Massoud would be cast asAladdin in the new Live-Action reboot.

P rior to his casting, the Disney Studios were criticized for their "sluggish pace. However, the studio responded that they were looking for someone very specific, a man in his twenties who can sing and act and preferred someone of Middle Eastern or Indian descent.
