Megan Sloss was a University of Iowa graduate student who was pursuing a degree in social studies. ^[undefined] Previously, she attended Central College and was on the dance team. ^[undefined]

Death

On September 18th, her brother Spencer Lee Sloss was showing her how to disassemble a Sig Sauer 9mm handgun in the car on the way to a family event when the gun discharged, striking Megan in the hip.

Spencer had to stop the vehicle from the passenger seat by climbing over the armrest, then called the authorities for help.

Megan later died in the hospital from her injuries.

"She was the homecoming queen, a beautiful dancer, a teacher, a good friend to many and a lover of the little things in life. She had an uncommon devotion to God and her Church. She had a beautiful and kind spirit that touched many lives." [3]
