Megan Gailey was and raised in the down town of Indianapolis, Indiana. Megan Gailey grew up around the Lawrence, Indiana and Geist, Indianapolis suburbs. Her parents are originally Upstate New York. In an interview, she spoke about how her parents became fans of the Indianapolis Colts and the Indiana Pacers and passed it down to their kids after moving to Indiana and assimilating. [6]

My parents are not from Indianapolis — they’re from upstate New York.

When they got to Indy, they very much wanted to assimilate, so we got into a lot of the classic Indiana things.

We’re huge Pacers fans and huge Colts fans.

But, then, it was also kind of nice not having the negative stereotypes of Indiana because they were from the East Coast.

So, I got their progressiveness and the kindness of the Midwest.

She graduated from Lawrence Central High School before graduating from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. [6]

Career

The show written by Burdette and Gailey, Are We Ok?

is about how a Midwestern couple in their 20’s manages to stay together after the entire world sees their marriage proposal end in disaster.

And on a deeper level, it’s about their long, winding journey to figure if they’re actually meant to be together.

Burdette and Gailey executive produce with the show with producer, Jamie Tarses.

ABC Studios is the studio behind the show.

[16]

On November 5, 2019 she performed stand-up comedy on the The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Gailey regaled the audience with jokes about marriage proposals, the ineptitude of her ‘hip-hop Filipino fiancé’ and the inclemencies and vicissitudes of life as a childless aunt. Gailey later enthused about the experience via social media, describing doing standup on the Tonight Show as a ‘dream.’ [17]

Doing stand up on The Tonight Show was a dream come true.

But then I saw a man in an Ezekiel Elliott jersey think that a woman liked him and she was a prostitute so that was amazing too.
