Mbah Gotho (born, reportedly, 31 December 1870) is an Indonesian man who has been claimed to be the oldest person ever recorded. As of August 2016, his reported age was 145 years, 22 years older than the official oldest recorded person, Jeanne Calment, who died in 1997. [undefined] [undefined] [undefined]
Numerous media outlets have reported his claim widely, including photographs of his ID card, which displays his claimed birth date.
However, no independent verification of his birth date has taken place as of August 2016.
Personal Life
Mbah Gotho has outlived 10 siblings, four wives, and all his children.
His grandchildren are all independent, and says he has nothing to live for.
Today, he mainly listens to the radio because his eyesight is failing and has to be spoon-fed and bathed.
Gotho's grandson said he had bought a grave near those of his children when he was 122 and had been preparing for death ever since.
