Dr. Maureen Gaffney is a well known Broadcaster, Writer and Columnist on psychological issues and a Commentator on current trends and changes in Irish society.
Career
A Psychologist by profession, Maureen divides her time between her two government positions -Chairman of the National Economic and Social Forum (NESF) and member of the Board of the Health Service Executive.
Maureen Gaffney is also an Adjunct professor of Psychology and Society in University College Dublin. For many years she worked in Trinity College Dublin as Director of the Doctoral Programme in Clinical Psychology and as Executive Chairman of the National Economic and Social Forum.
Currently she works with companies and organization helping them to develop programmes on leadership and emotional intelligence; managing change and transitions; managing gender and diversity; flourishing organizational cultures.
She has worked with companies in Ireland, the UK, Israel , and the U.S.
Over her career, she has served on a number of state and other boards, including as a Law Reform Commissioner; Chair of the Council of the Insurance Ombudsman of Ireland; Board member of the Health Service Executive; and Council Member of the Economic and Social Research Centre.
Maureen is a member of Women’s Leadership Board of the Harvard Kennedy School, and serves on its Executive Committee.

Education
Maureen earned her B.A in Psychology at University College Cork; her M.A in Behavioural Sciences at the University of Chicago and her Ph.D at Trinity College Dublin.
Personal Life
Maureen lives in Dublin with her husband John. The couple has two grown up children. Maureen enjoys reading, cooking, running and taking to the mountains whenever she has free time.
