Matthew M. Azimi was an American school teacher who in late November, 2017, was found dead inside the bathroom stalls at his place of work. ^[4]

Born and raised in the state of New York, he enjoyed an upbringing in the town of Bedford, New York for most of his life. ^[5]

In 2013 he moved to Carmel Hamlet with his wife and children. They had been married for 10 years. He is remembered for for being a loving man - he loved his family and children more than life itself. ^[-1]

In his initial academic career, he attended and graduated Purchase College in 2008 where he received his Bachelor's degree in Literature. ^[1]

He later attended Long Island University where he received his MS in Education and Special Education. ^[1]

After college he worked at OpenGate. Later on he worked for Mt. Pleasant Blythdale UFSD until 2010. ^[1]

On September, 2010, he joined PS 811x The Academy for Career and Living Skills as a special education teacher.

On Thursday, November 30th, 2017, Azimi was found dead from a suspected Heroin overdose, inside of a bathroom stall at his school. Matt is believed to have entered the cubicle shortly after the end of the school day at 2:50pm, which is when he was last seen alive. At around 5:45 p.m. the school custodian checked the bathroom and found the teacher unconscious. ^[5]

When the EMTs arrived, they pronounced him dead at the scene.

Police also confirmed drug paraphernalia had been lying next to his body.
