Matt Musil is the HOU 11 News weekend sports presenter and sports reporter. Matt Musil was Sports director at WTVM-TV (ABC) in Columbus, before working at KHOU 11 News in 1980. [1]
Early Life
Matt Musil is a native of Frankfort, Kansas. Musil graduated from Kansas State University with a major in Radio-TV Journalism and a minor in coaching.
He played football, baseball, basketball and ran track in high school.
Before turning his attention to the radio/TV business, he played baseball up to the semi-professional level.
Career
Matt Musil started his broadcast career at KNDY-FM in Marysville, Washington, Kansas. He later worked at KWNS AM-FM in Pratt, Kansas.
His first television job was at KTVH-DT-TV (CBS) in Wichita, Kansas. He later served two years as sports director at WTVM-TV (ABC) in Columbus, Georgia, before coming to KHOU-TV. [5]
Matt has received multiple industry awards in Georgia and Texas but is most proud of his work in the community where he's raised over $2,000,000 for local charities over the past 28 years through his charitable foundation, Matt Musil All-Star Charities. Matt has over 5,500 followers on Twitter[14] (@KHOUSportsMatt) and about 17,800 tweets.
Personal
Matt has two sons, a daughter and two grandchildren.
He recently remarried to his new and lovely wife Rachel Winan Musil in 2019[2]
Trivia
He likes basketball and golf, as he continues to be active through his youth basketball camps in the summer and annual charity golf tournament each November.

Jim Nantz, who will call the Super Bowl, got his start at KHOU in Houston.

"To this day whenever I run into Jim Nantz, the greeting starts with a smile, then a laugh and then we hug each another.

"I'm so proud of him and he has always appreciated my constant support of him through the years.
I first met Jim when he was a student at the University of Houston and he was also working part time at KTRH Radio.
Jimmy was also hosting the Guy V. Lewis TV show on KUHT-TV Public TV (coincidentally where our KHOU 11 Newsroom has been housed since Hurricane Harvey) and he also did Public Address work for U.H. basketball games."[15]
