Matt Howard (EatStreet)

Matt Howard (EatStreet)

Matt Howard is a business executive. He is the co-founder and CEO of EatStreet, an online food ordering platform.

Career

Early Beginnings

Howard began his career in sales, as it was something he was passionate about growing up.

He first started selling running shoes for Scheels when he was 16 years old. After a few years of experience, he took a summer internship selling cars for Russ Darrow during his university years. [1]

Before graduating, Howard became a student manager at University of Wisconsin's Memorial Union.

EatStreet

In 2010, Matt Howard co-founded EatStreet: online ordering platform that connects diners with local restaurants for delivery and pickup orders.

In the fall of 2007, during his freshman year of college, Howard met fellow EatStreet co-founder named Eric Martell.

In the summer of 2009, he received a call from Alex about starting a company with him.

According to Matt, Eric originally came up with the idea ordered a sub on an online ordering platform called Campus Food and the driver warned him about using it because they are charging 75 cents to use the service.

[1]

As an alternative, they created EatStreet and made the service free for students attending the University of Wisconsin.

Martell and his friend Alex Wyler built the website and Howard signed restaurants. [1]

After launching what was then called BadgerBites in 2010, they signed 100 restaurants within a year.

They eventually re-branded themselves to EatStreet.

[1]

Howard is in charge of sales and operations EatStreet and has spearheaded numerous acquisitions, including delivery startup Zoomer in February 2017.

Awards & Accomplishments

In late 2017, Howard and Wyler were listed on Forbes' 30 Under 30 for 2018 in the 'Big Money' and 'Consumer Technology' categories. They were recognized for raising over $37 million, launching in 250 markets, and delivering to over 1.7 million customers. It was the first time a Wisconsin tech startup was recognized by Forbes.
