Martinus Gunnarsen

Martinus Gunnarsen (born 21/02/2002) is one-half of the identical brother duo known as Marcus & Martinus who performs alongside his brother Martinus. They won the 11th season of Melodi Grand Prix Junior and put out a debut album called Hei in February of 2015. He was named Artists of the Year alongside with his brother at the 2017 Norwegian Grammys.

Early life

He and Marcus Gunnarsen were born in Elverum, Norway. He was born in a family of a school teacher who brought him and his twin brother in the idea of industriousness and good virtues. Martinus and his brother had shown a great interest to music before they gained international success and fame. He and his brother form the duet named Marcus & Martinus. When the siblings were only ten they became contestants in the competition ‘Melodi Grand Prix Junior’. Due to their brilliant singing of the song ‘To Draper Vann’ the duet won with a tremendous success. The twins got a prestigious award which is called ‘Spellmann of the Year’ and were given a chance to be the representatives of their motherland in a world music tournament.[4][2]

Career

Martinus Gunnarsen alongside with his twin brother rose to stardom early in their life becuase the duo did put in a lot of effort and hard work before tasting success. The brothers’ first attained the limelight at the age of ten. They had contested in the eleventh season of the Melodi Grand Prix Junior competition, held in Oslo Spektrum, Norway. Their final winning song, ‘To draper vann’ earned them the coveted title and champion trophy. The song peaked at #8 on the Norwegian Singles Chart.

After the success of the reality show, Martinus and his brother released their debut album "Hei" in February 2015.

The album peaked at #1 on the Norwegian Albums Chart and included hit singles ‘Plystre pa deg' and ‘Elektrisk’, featuring vocals from Katastrofe. ‘Elektrisk’ peaked at #3 on the Norwegian Singles Chart and was soon followed by ‘Ei som deg’ with Inner Tier. The song peaked at #15 on the Norwegian Singles Chart.

The following year, 2016, the duo released three singles including ‘Girls’, ‘Heartbeat’ and ‘I Don't Wanna Fall in Love’.

‘Girls’ became the second single by Gunnarsen brothers’ to debut at #1 in Norway after ‘Elektrisk’.

They followed up ‘Girls’ with the singles ‘Light It Up’ and ‘One More Second’.

In November 2016, the twin brothers came up with their first English album ‘Together’.

The album debuted at #1 in Norway and Sweden and at #6 in Finland.[6][3]

Personal Life

Martinus is great football lovers and at one point of time even dreamt of becoming football player.
