Marlee Wierda is a native of South Florida, she joined WCIA 3 in 2018 as Sports Reporter in Champaign, Illinois. She is very much interested in digital content creation, video production, and social media. She is currently the weekend sport Anchor at WCIA 3.[1]
Early Life
Marlee was born and raised in South Florida, she moved north to attend Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York City, and spent all four years playing for the Women’s Volleyball team. During her time as an Ithaca College Bomber, Marlee earned two conference titles and finished her final season in the NCAA National Championship Final Four.
Ever since I can remember, I always had a passion for telling stories.
Even as a young girl, I remember shooting videos on my dad's camera, and conducting "weather broadcasts" from my living room.
Career
Marlee Wierda interned for the Florida Panthers NHL Team, where she worked with the Game Presentation and Communications departments. She has also played a role in the coverage of two Olympic Games, freelancing for both the 2016 and 2018 Olympics at NBC Sports’ headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut.
Marlee was also involved with Ithaca College Television station where she served as a Sports Reporter/Anchor, host and analyst covering a number of Ithaca College and Cornell University Sports and local sports. Her responsibilities included: researching, writing scripts, and analyzing athlete statistics within strict deadlines.

She joined the WCIA 3 team in November 2018 as a Sports Reporter, and moved up to be the Weekend Sports Anchor in May 2020.[3]
Personal
She was born in South Florida, Marlee speaks both English and Spanish, and hopes to learn other languages in the future.[2]
Trivia
Besides sports, She also has a passion for traveling.
After graduating college in May 2018, she spent three months living in Madrid, Spain and traveling throughout Europe. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, eating, and taking pictures of food. She loves spending time outdoors, and hopes to survive the Champaign winters.[4]
