Mark Hughes

Mark Hughes

Mark Hughes is a resident of Dallas, Texas.

He is the brother of social activist and black lives matter organizer Cory Hughes.

During the protest that turned into the 2016 Dallas Police Protest Shooting, Mark was open-carrying an AR-15, which is legal since he had a permit to do so, as a symbolic protest. When Micah Johnson started his shooting spree and began killing people, police incorrectly released a photo of Mark as the shooting suspect. Mark gave up his gun to police to assure his safety.

Mark and his brother have been receiving death threats since the police incorrectly released Mark's photo.

[1] They have a lawyer and are planning to sue.

In an interview with the media, Hughes said "Hindsight, 20/20, I could have easily been shot,”[undefined]
