Mariella Rudi has worked as an award-winning journalist in her hometown of Los Angeles, California since she was 16-years-old.
Biography
An avid reader and pop-culture whiz, she prides herself on being a reporter with a knack for conversation and connection.
Mariella applies her trademark newshound charisma and years of interview experience to unearth the theme of everyone’s story and empathize with her subjects.
[1] She is the founder and editor of Beyond The Interview, an online magazine dedicated to pushing past the ego and gaining perspective in this oversaturated online landscape. With this, it’s always her goal to have an interview be fun, interactive, and always frank. When writing, she relishes the opportunity to experiment with form, from literary and gonzo journalism to photo essays and documentaries.
She launched the online magazine with her co-founder Nicole Behnam. [1] She has served as the print and digital editor of Westside Today, Brentwood News, and Century City News. She has written for Time Out Los Angeles, Yo! Venice, and the Santa Monica Mirror, among others. [1]
She also works as the editorial assistant at to Edward Goldman, host of NPR’s “Art Talk,” with a focus on social media, research, and, of course, art in L.A. [1]
Education
She holds a journalism degree from Pepperdine University, where she served as executive editor of Pepperdine Graphic Media’s newspaper, online site, and magazines. It was there that she also won national Pacemaker awards—considered the Pulitzer Prize of college journalism—for feature story of the year and advertorials in newspapers. [1]

Born in San Francisco, Mariella grew up in West Hollywood, California and graduated from Pacific Hills School in 2011.
