Mariah Burton Nelson

Mariah Burton Nelson

A pioneering professional athlete, author, and keynote speaker, Mariah Burton Nelson uses inspiring sports stories, cutting-edge business research, and lots of humor to give people the motivation and tools they need to lead and succeed with courage, compassion, commitment, and confidence.

Mariah has been offering speeches to corporations, associations, and colleges since 1987.

The author of three groundbreaking books, including The Stronger Women Get, The More Men Love Football, Mariah has written for The New York Times, The Washington Post, Newsweek, and Glamour, and is a columnist for Oxygen Media.

Mariah's latest book, The Unburdened Heart, was nominated for the Christopher Award, given to artists whose work "lights a candle rather than cursing the darkness."

In her role as the nation's leading women's sportswriter, she is a frequent guest on Dateline, Today, Good Morning America, and Crossfire.

A former Stanford ('78) and pro (WBL) basketball player, she still holds one college rebounding record.

Now a golfer and swimmer, her time for the 1500-meter freestyle is in the top 5 nationally for her age group.

Mariah also works with corporations to produce Listening to Women, a conference for companies that care about retaining, recruiting, promoting, and understanding their female employees.

MARIAH is the co-founder and co-owner (with Arnold Sanow, MBA, CSP) of a consulting business called SPEAKING SUCCESS FOR ATHLETES: individualized coaching for athletes who want to achieve as much success on the podium as they have on the playing fields.
