Marc Anthony Bynum

Marc Anthony Bynum

Marc Anthony Bynum is a Chef who has won twice on the Food Network's TV show Chopped. [4] He is the owner and founder of M Bynum Creations, Inc. [10]

Background

He was born and raised in Long Island, New York with his with his other four siblings. Growing up in the household, he often watched his mother cook for the family and witnessing the joy on people's faces when they ate is what drew him to become a chef. He had always been gifted with his hands even at an early age and he has translated that to the presentation of his dishes. [7]

Training

Chef Marc’s only form of training came at a Vocational School while in High School, so with no real formal training he relied on his palate and diligent studying of his craft to enhance his knowledge of different food and cuisines. Marc consistently found himself working for less money to work in certain restaurants just to gain more knowledge of different cuisines. [7]

With this hard work and dedication Chef has headed some of the most prestigious restaurants on Long island such as Four Food Studio, Prime Restaurant, Tellers and Venue 56 to name a few. In these restaurants Chef Bynum has received 3 Stars from Newsday and New York Times. [7]

"Chopped" TV Series

In June of 2010 Chef Marc Anthony Bynum appeared on the Food Network's TV show Chopped, claiming victory twice before coming up short in the Season Finale called Chopped Champions. The celebrity chef judges who picked him in the first competition were Iron Chef Alex Guarnaschelli, Chef Amanda Freitag, and Chef Jody Williams; the second time he impressed celebrity chefs Geoffrey Zakarian, Marc Murphy, and again, Amanda Freitag with his cooking skills to secure another win. [10]

He went on to compete in the Chopped Champions Grand Finale of the $50,000 tournament but was eliminated after the appetizer round.

Still, since his television debut, Bynum’s career has seen a huge boost in popularity.

After the show, Chef Marc participated in the Celebrity Chef Tour with fellow chefs Jennifer Carroll, Amanda Cook, Sean Curry, and Chopped celebrity chef judge, Marc Murphy. [1]

Entrepreneurship

With the success of the show coupled with his restaurant work, Chef stepped out and started his own company MBynum Creations.

The company is a firm that specializes in hospitality consulting as well as private events.

This has also allowed Chef to appear at countless charity events where he can draw attention to things that are dear to his heart like Childhood obesity and Depression. [7]

Chef Bynum is constantly building his brand.

He has a spice line that launched in April of 2011, and drafted book deals with topics stemming from Cheap Eats to Cooking for Your Date.

Chef Bynum has remained one of the top chefs in the industry.

[10]

Personal Life

His message is: “I AM A HERO”.

He places importance on becoming a hero to himself first so that he may become a hero to others.

His burden is to teach children and adults through cooking that if you follow your dreams and work hard, you can be successful.

[7]

His everyday desire and prayer is to touch the generation that is being neglected through food and thoughts.

He stands as an aggressive participant in the fight against childhood obesity and teenage depression. [7]
