O'Neil On Fight News Unlimited
Matthew O'Neil tko'd Preston Hartzog in a USA Boxing sanctioned match on October 8, 1999 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Hartzog was in the U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program at the time of being stopped. He was also 1997 US Armed Forces Champion in the superheavyweight division. Hartzog won a silver medal at the 1999 Military World Games.[17] The United States came in eight place at that games with 26 medals. O'Neil is a Plymouth native and his boxing career has been covered by Maxboxing and Intuboxing.[5] O'Neil was on The Grueling Truth in 2020. O'Neil was also on the Fight News Unlimited Combat Sports Show with Rich Bergeron on June 19, 2020. Bergeron is a former reporter for The Patriot Ledger.[18]
Former Red Sox Pitcher
Former Major League Baseball player Mike Remlinger has spent time living in Plymouth. Remlinger played for the Boston Red Sox, Atlanta Braves, New York Mets and a few other teams.[7] Former Plymouth High School football coach Carl Freyermuth won the Super Bowl in 1984 and 1989. His 1989 team defeated Central Catholic High School at Sullivan Stadium.[16] Sullivan Stadium was torn down and later replaced by Gillette Stadium. Sullivan Stadium was the former home of the New England Patriots. From the late 1980's to 1993 the town had a Division 1 high school sports program. Dwayne Follette won the state championship as head baseball coach for Plymouth North High School in 2008 and 2011. Follette was the assistant football coach for the 1993 Plymouth High School team. That team was Plymouth County Champions. Former professional wrestler Andrew Santos was on that team and resides in Plymouth. Santos wrestled professionally across the world and is on the IMDb.
