Madison Moore is a 21-year-old economics student from New Hampshire who garnered national attention when Joe Biden called her a "a lying, dog-faced pony soldier". ^[1]

Madison Moore encountered Joe Biden when he was campaigning in New Hampshire.

She questioned him on his electibility, pointing out that coming in fourth place in Iowa is problematic when he has such a wealth of experience over his opponents.

Biden responded by asking Madison if she had "ever been to a caucus" and when she tried to respond he cut her off saying:

"No, you haven't.

You’re a lying, dog-faced pony soldier."

Moore was embarrassed by Biden's choice of words and much of the public was clueless about what the phrase actually meant.

Joe Biden's team claims it comes from a John wayne movie, but the public has been unable to figure out which one it might be.

It's not the first time Joe Biden has used the phrase, he also said it during a 2018 campaign event for former Senator Heidi Heitkamp.

He used it to insult her opponent Kevin Cramer and explained where it came from:

“There’s a line in a movie, a John Wayne movie, where an Indian chief turns to John Wayne and says, This is a lying, dog-faced pony soldier.”

She spoke to the press saying she hadn't expected her tweet to blow up, but if she had known she would have put on makeup.

She also expressed dicomfort with his word choice:

"It was kind of humiliating to be called a liar on national TV by the former vice president.

Instead of answering that question straightforward, his immediate response was to attempt to invalidate me by exposing my inexperience."

She went on to suggest it was a pusilanimous way for someone of his stature to answer a question:

"He has been performing extremely poorly in this race and the fact that he couldn’t just straight answer my question without bullying or intimidating just exacerbates that fact.

I am 21-year old college student, like what the hell do I know?

Who cares who I am or my experience.

Just answer the damn question"

Madison Moore grew up in Fernandina Beach, Florida.

She is a student at Mercer University where she studies economics.
