Luan Duy Nguyen is a business executive and consultant. He has expertise SAP, information security services, wireless services, social networking technologies, IT infrastructure, and mobile apps.

Luan D. Nguyen is currently the CEO and President of UZip, a company that allows people to share vehicles and storage spaces in an economically optimal way. [1]

Education

Dr. Nguyen's academic background is in engineering.

He received his Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Oklahoma. Soon thereafter, he earned his M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin.

In 1994, he earned his Executive M.B.A. from UT Austin.

Career

IBM

While he was pursuing his Master's degree, he began working in IBM's Chief Technology Office.

While there, he helped define their technology strategy for IBM Global Services Strategic Outsourcing and small-to-medium business services.

Later, he became a Senior Engineer; he held the position until 1999.

Web Office Inc.

In 2001, Nguyen co-founded Web Office, a network storage provider.

The company is particularly known for pioneering the Virtual Private Storage Network (VPSN): a network attached storage (NAS) that uses the Internet to simplify the process of sharing data across the WAN.

He served as President and CEO and was responsible for strategic and business development, as well as raising funds, managing financing, and maintaining customer relationships.

Under his leadership, he received the Export Achievement Award from the U.S. Department of Commerce in August 2003, and its product received the PC Magazine prestigious 4-Star Award in the US.

Professor

While running Web Office, Dr. Nguyen became an adjunct lecturer for several institutions in the United States.

He taught at the University of Texas Graduate School of Business and the Huston Tillotson College computer science department.

Capital Funding

For 8 years, Dr. Nguyen served as Chairman of Viet-US Golden Tiger Capital LLC.

While serving on the board, he became the official representative of the Texas International Education Consortium (TIEC) in matters relating to the development of the new educational programs in Vietnam. The aim of this non-profit is to provide educational services abroad based upon the human resources of 32 public universities in Texas.

His tenure at Golden Tiger Capital was also when he co-founded the International Liver Foundation for Vietnam.

After the non-profit on March 15, 2010, he became its BOD's secretary.

UZip

Since May 2017, Luan Nguyen has been the CEO and President of UZip.

In an effort to empower local businesses and individuals, UZip offers an open logistics platform for people to share their assets (bikes, cars, trucks, drones, EV, AV, storage spaces, etc.). By using social data, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and other forms of modern technology, they aim to provide logistics last mile services to others in a efficient and economic way. [1]
