Allegations
Johnson is accused of killing her newborn son.
She faces more than 60 years in prison if convicted.
Authorities believe Lindsay Johnson suffocated her infant son on March 13, 2016 in Bousfield Hall at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign after giving birth to him in her dorm suite bathroom.
Johnson gave birth to Robert Richard Johnson at 1:30 p.m.
March 13.
Police were originally alerted after a witness heard an infant crying.
A preliminary determination by Forensic Pathologist Dr. Shiping Bao found that the child was born alive.
Johnson originally claimed the baby was not breathing when born, but later, when confronted, admitted the baby was born alive and had been crying.
Her statement’s suggested she may have covered the baby’s mouth with a towel or her hand to stop it from crying.
On April 12, 2016 she appeared in court for arraignment where Judge Brett Olmstead presented her with her three charges.
