Lindo means beautiful in Spanish.

Joao Rodriquez Lindo was a Converso merchant from Campo Maior. ^[2]His sons Antonio Rodriquez Lindo and Lorenco Rodriquez Lindo were both arrested during the Spanish Inquisiton.

Isaac (Lourenco Rodrigues) Lindo (born circa 1638 in Badajoz, Province of Badajoz, Extremadura, Spain - died 1712 in London, England) was able to resettle in London, changed his name to Isaac and became a leader in his synagogue.

He married Perpetua Leah Lindo and parented Elias de Isaac Lindo and Alexander (Elisha) de Isaac Lindo.

Alexander (Elisha) de Isaac (born 1666 - died 1720 in Venice, Italy) married Rachel Lindo.

They had a son: Abraham Lindo.

Abraham Lindo (born 1711 - died 1808) married Marianne N Lindo and fathered Alexandre (Elisha) Lindo.

Elias (born in 1690 London, United Kingdom - died 1727 in London) married Rachel Lindo and fathered Isaac Lindo, Moses Lindo and Ester Lindo.

He married Bathseba Haim Lindo and fathered Elias Lindo.

Elias Lindo (born circa 1740 - died September 13, 1785 in London) married Grace Lindo and fathered Abraham Lindo, David Abarbanel Lindo, Abigail Mocatta, Ephraim Lindo, Batsheba Lindo, Moses Lindo and Rebecca Lindo.

His son Moses Lindo was an important indigo dye merchant in London and then South Carolina.

His brother Abraham (born in Devonshire on February 7, 1767 - died 1817 in St. Croix) married Anne Mann and fathered Harriet Mathilde Lindo (born 1796) and Almira Lindo (born September 30, 1806) of Alexandria, Virginia.

Alexandre (Elisha) Lindo, also known as Alexandre Elisah (born 1742 in Bordeaux, Gironde, Aquitaine, France - died March 12, 1812 in Kingston, Jamaica) married Hannah Lindo and had several children.

They divorced and then he married Esther Salome and had more children.

He fathered Esther Belisario, Miriam (Marianne) Henriques, Abraham Alexander Lindo, Joseph Alexander Lindo, Rachel Franco, Hannah Lindo, David Alexandre Lindo, Letitia Dunn French, Abigail Charlotte de Lisser, Miriam (Amelia) Ricardo, Richard Lindo, Elizabeth O'Brien and Moses Lindo.

Richard Lindo married Jane DeLisser and they fathered Esther Lindo.

She married Simon Magnus and produced an extensive line of Magnus family.
