Leah Tysse is a singer/songwriter in the San Francisco Bay Area. She has received songwriting accolades from Billboard for her R&B songwriting and performances. As a professional singer, she has performed in many countries showcasing her love and passion for the craft. She appears in the film, The Pursuit of Happyness , singing at the Glide Memorial Church. Sacramento Kings National anthem
On October 11th, 2016, Leah sang the Star Spangled Banner in the pre-game ceremony of the basketball game between the Sacramento kings and Maccabi Haifa B.C., and as the song came to its conclusion, she went on to take a knee. The crowd ranged from being supportive to offended by the actions of Tysse. The Kings organization have stated: "We respect the personal decision of Leah Tysse to exercise her freedom of speech."
She claims to have taken a knee toward the end of the performance because it was the most patriotic thing to do.
