Andrés Vicente Lazo Uslar ( Caracas, Venezuela, February 18, 1988), better known by his stage name Lasso[1], is a Venezuelan singer, actor and composer.

Biography

Beginnings

Andrés Lazo was born on February 18, 1988 in Caracas, Venezuela, into a family with musical roots.

His parents are Henrique Lazo, a well known Venezuelan singer, composer and conductor, and Carolina Uslar.

Lasso completed his primary and secondary studies at Jefferson College in Caracas, and spent two years studying Systems Engineering at the Metropolitan University in Caracas.

His first public performance was at age fifteen, when he was invited to sing in the band, Punk Society.

In 2007, Lasso decided to form his own band, Karnavali, with his best friend.

In 2008, they recorded their first album, when Lasso was part of the band, he discovered that he wanted to dedicate himself professionally to music.

2009-12 Sin otro sentido

In 2011, Lasso made his debut as a soloist, under the production of Francisco Díaz and Brian Gardner, with a promotional single, "No Parares de Dança" (Don't Stop Dancing), which managed to occupy the top spots in the general billboard of Record Report, in less than a week.

Lasso recorded the video clip on November 10, 2010 and was directed by his father, Venezuelan singer, announcer and director Henrique Lazo[2].

The single entered the Hot Ranking of the HispanicTV, achieving first place.

In March 2011, he released his first studio album, Sin otro Sentido.

Sin Otro Sentido was certified as a Gold and Platinum album in Venezuela.

In May 2011, Lasso participated in the tour of American singer and actress Miley Cyrus in Venezuela and opened her concert in Caracas. In April 2011, Lasso opened the concert of Spanish singer Raphael (singer) in Venezuela. Lasso received the New Artist Award at the Pepsi Music Awards. In August 2011, Lasso released his second promotional single, "Sin Otro Sentido".

In 2012, Lasso debuted as an actor in Televen's telenovela, Nacer Contigo, La telenovela was an adaptation of Fernando de Rojas' original novel La Celestina.the telenovela premiered on February 22, 2012, with good ratings.the singer participated in the soundtrack of the telenovela, which includes his third single, "Te veo". In October 2012, he released the last single of his first studio album, "Quiero Que Vuelvas", with Sheryl Rubio. The single was part of the soundtrack of the soap opera Nora. In 2013, Lasso became the image of the Digitel brand. In November 2013, Lasso released the first single of his second studio album, "Cómo te odio", the single contains a strong message against bullying.

In March 2014, Lasso released his second single, "De tú a tú"[3], a hymn to struggle and strength.

The video for the single was recorded in the Petare area of Caracas and a tribute was made to the late singer-songwriter Simón Díaz. The song's video was the direct inspiration for the song, "Me Voy Enamorando" by Chino & Nacho, directed by the same director Nuno Gomes.

2012-19 Second album Diferente and success in Mexico

In January 2015, he signed a record deal with Universal Music Group, with which he released his second studio album, Diferente. In March 2015, Lasso re-released his single "Te Veo"[4] in Mexico, the single made it into the Top 20 of Monitor Latino Pop. In July 2015, Lasso received the award for Best Pop-Rock Artist at the HTV Awards.

In April 2016, he released his first single from his second studio album, "Diferente", which reached first place on Monitor Latino's Mexico Pop Billboard.

In February 2017, Lasso released his new single, "No me tratates de olvidar".

Thus the artist, through a personal crisis, matures his work.

2020

On March 27, 2020, Lasso releases his second single of the same year "Kamikaze".

On April 23 Lasso premieres his song Vamos a mi Ritmo 49 with singer Isabela Souza and with just 15 hours of published on YouTube has almost 200,000 views and the number 1 position in trends in Venezuela, his native country, with lyrics that talk about starting over in a relationship but this time....

"let's go to my rhythm".

On September 17, 2020, Lasso releases "Hasta ese día" a big hit that is immediately welcomed by his fans, reaching 5 million plays on YouTube, in less than 3 months.

On November 26, Lasso in collaboration with Spanish singer Ana Guerra releases the song "Los amigos no se besan en la boca".

Themes of 2021

On January 28, 2021, the song "odiarte" was released, which was a collaboration with Mexican singer Paty Cantú.

Personal life

In 2011, he confirmed his relationship with Venezuelan actress and singer Sheryl Rubio[5], with whom he maintained a seven-year relationship until September 2018.

In 2015, she moved to Mexico City to continue her singing career, after having signed with the Universal Music Latin Entertainment label and due to the crisis in her country Venezuela, her ex-partner Sheryl Rubio moved with her to work for Televisa, after the closure of RCTV and the decrease of productions in Venevisión.
