On October 12th, a cellphone video was posted on YouTube by Janet Rowles of Thomas being confronted and eventually getting arrested by officer Tim Olson for walking in the street and disorderly conduct.

Thomas was walking down Xerxes Avenue in a residential neighborhood in Edina, Minnesota where there was construction underway on the sidewalk.

Thomas adjusted his route by walking on the white line.

An unmarked police car arrived and the plain clothed officer, Tim Olson, stopped Thomas and accused him of walking in the middle of the road.

In the video, Olson's hand grabs Thomas's jacket, while Thomas becomes irate.

The videographer and another person witnessing the incident criticize the officer for unreasonableness.

Thomas asked numerous times what he did wrong and for Olsen to take his hand off him.

Olson asks Thomas to calm down and Thomas asks the officer to take his hands off him.

Thomas curses at the officer.

Thomas eventually tries to elude the officer's grip by removing his jacket and taking off his shirt.

By the time a second officer arrives, Thomas is immediately arrested.

He was given a breathalyzer test which detected minimal alcohol in his system.

Thomas was detained for 45 minutes and cited for disorderly conduct and failure to obey a traffic signal.

The NAACP has requested that Officer Olson be suspended without pay.
