Jonathan Asmis and Alex Lofton co-founded Landed in June 2015. They met at Stanford Graduate School of Business, where they helped a Berkeley co-op finance their home. During that time, they found that the process of buying and financing property can be extremely complicated and intimidating; hence the idea for Landed.
Their idea is to organize communities who can financially support those in urban areas who need help making their first down payments on a piece of property. They particularly work with schools, companies, and alumni networks to better recruit and retain teachers, employees, and fresh graduates.
In March of 2019 Landed partnered with Bellevue College to help educators afford their dream homes in the area. Landed provides up to $120,000 per family, in exchange for a portion of the change in the value of the home when the home is sold.
