Austin and Kiara Hardmon-Myers were in an argument at 2:57 p.m. local time in a vehicle in the 6400 block of South Calumet Avenue. ^{[3] [-1]}

During the argument, Austin fired a gunshot, striking Kiara in the arm. Kiara was taken to Stroger Hospital, where her condition stabilized. ^{[3] [-1]}
