On March 4, 2017, Kyle Chapman attended a Pro-Trump rally in Martin Luther King Jr. Civic Center Park, which located on the campus of UC Berkeley. He was dressed in protective gear, as he believed the rally would turn violent. He states the following in a documented video:
"In case anyone wants to know why I'm dressed like this, it's because the Communists in the masks behind you are violent fascist extremists who attack anybody who doesn't agree with them."
Sometime after his speech, fights started to break out and an old man was pepper sprayed by Antifa.
In a video, men in black can be seen trying to grab a yellow flag (most likely a Gadsen Flag), dragging a man in a kilt, and were throwing punches at people. Kyle Chapman, dressed in protective gear, began to defend himself against the attackers with a stick. Multiple eyewitnesses report that Kyle was defending Trump supporters. The stick originally had a sign on it that said Blue Lives Matter.
A detractor posted on Facebook that Kyle is a white supremacist and was attacking peaceful protestors. A tweet from Kyle's girlfriend and video of the incident contradict those accusations.
