In July 2017, Kristy was aboard a Princess Cruise ship in waters near the city of Juneau, Alaska when her husband Kenneth Manzanares beat her to death. Kenneth says he began attacking his wife because she was laughing at him. She died of a head wound. ^[1]

The cruise ship left Seattle on July 23 for a seven-day round-trip cruise and had left Ketchikan, Alaska on July 25.
