Kristen Holmes is a Correspondent for CNN, lives in the Washington, D.C. Bureau. Kristen Holmes was previously a national Correspondent for CNN Newsource, CNN's network of more than 1,000 affiliates.[12]
Education
Kristen Holmes completed her undergraduate studies at Northwestern University, graduating in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in journalism. [5] [7] [7]
Kristen Holmes then went on to attend Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, receiving an MS in broadcast journalism in 2012. [5] [8] [7].
Career
In May 2004, Kristen Holmes began her Career in journalism by interning at The Colbert Report until September 2004. She worked on screening, monitoring and researching network newscasts and cable news programs, field producing, and audience preparation for tapings. In June-September 2006, Holmes was an Intern at MSNBC Hardball with Chris Matthews. Kristen Holmes worked on researching legislative records and issues for shows, attending editorial meetings , copy editing Chris Matthews' book and field producing.[8]
From 2008 - 2009, Homes worked as an On-Air Reporter at 6News (Lawrence, Kansas). For two years, from 2009 - 2011, she was a Teach For America Corps Member and worked as a 3rd and 5th Grade Teacher.[8]
Upon completing graduate school, she officially joined CNN as an intern for Piers Morgan Live. After her internship, she became an editorial producer for the The Lead with Jake Tapper. She also became a CNN producer in the White House as well as a CNN producer following the 2016 Donald Trump campaign. [5] [7] [8]
While in Washington, D.C., she also worked as a producer on several projects with Katie Couric at Yahoo! and with NewsChannel 8.[12]
Personal Life
Kristen Holmes is a daughter of Lois Romano and Sven Erik Holmes. Her father is a vice chairman of KPMG, the New York accounting firm, and is also a trustee of St. Mary’s College of Maryland, in St. Mary’s, Md. Her mother was until 2017 the editor of The Washington Post Live, the newspaper’s live events platform, and is now working on a book about Mary Todd Lincoln. She is also a director of both the International Center for Research on Women and the Women’s Foreign Policy Group, both in Washington, D.C.[10]
Kristen Holmes and her husband Noah William Gray were married September 7, 2019 in Nantucket. Rabbi Jonathan Fisch officiated at a private home rented for the occasion.[10]
The couple initially met in 2015 over the telephone, when she was a new on-air producer at the White House and he was a booking producer in Atlanta. There was an illegal drone over the White House, and he called her to go on-air with breaking news. Afterward, he emailed and suggested they meet for coffee, but the timing did not work out and it was not until a year later that they met in person, when both were covering Trump presidential campaign.[10]
