On June 7, 2017, Campbell and her father's girlfriend's 15-year-old son left her home in the 12400 block of Forest Drive at about 8:00 p.m. local time to walk to a nearby shopping center.

The 15-year-old boy stated that they got separated when a rainstorm moved in.

She was reported missing just before midnight.
