Khairuldeen Makhzoomi
Makhzoomi was asked to leave a Southwest Airlines flight from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Oakland, California on April 6, 2016 because he was speaking Arabic on the phone.
Makhzoomi had called his uncle in Baghdad to tell him about an event he had attended where Ban Ki-Moon, the Secretary General of the United Nations.
During the conversation, he mentioned the question he asked Secretary Ban Ki-Moon about the Islamic State and ended the conversation with the Arabic word "inshallah" meaning "God willing".
This caused the woman in front of Makhzoomi to report him to the airlines staff.
