Kevin Pope was a Bronx Charter School teacher. He is 48-years-old.

Incident and Arrest

Kevin Pope allegedly assaulted a 16-year-old student and threatened to rape the student's mother on a daily basis, after a $7,000 drug deal gone bad.

Police arrested Pope at 10 a.m. during the morning of September 23rd after it was discovered that he severely beat a 16-year-old

student in a drug deal gone wrong.

Pope and the student went to a drug dealer in Manhattan to purchase some Marijuana for $4,000 dollars. When the plug requested $7,000 instead, the student backed out of the deal stating he did not have the funds. He subsequently left, with the $4,000 that the pair came with.

When Pope confronted the teen, the student did not return his money, making Pope agitated.

Pope later beat the teen to the point where the teen needed to get several stitches on the back of his head, and then stole his wallet, iPhone, and gold chain. He also threatened to rape the student's mother everyday.

Pope was arrested for assault and battery.

Students and colleagues alike were surprised their former beloved teacher, stating that they were not capable of such crimes.
