Family and Karate training
Kenzo Machida belongs to Brazil's famous Machida Karate family.
His father Sensei Yoshizo Machida, the founder of Machida Karate style of Karate, left Japan in 1968 and settled in Brazil after meeting his mother Ana Claudia. His brother Lyoto Machida is the former Ultimate Fighting Championship light heavyweight champion. His other siblings Take Machida and Chinzo Machida are also Karatekas and Mixed martial artists respectively.
Unlike his three brothers Kenzo Machida is not a black belt in Karate.
He is a brown belt and chose to pursue journalism over a career in martial arts.
Journalism career
After graduating in journalism Kenzo Machida became the Communications Director of APAM (Para).
He was a TV Liberal reporter.
He has also worked as a technology journalist.
