Kenny Muney is a rapper from who has experienced a relatively fast ascent. The melodic and versatile MC made his commercial debut in his late teens and has a handful of full-length projects to his credit, including the Atlantic-issued Baby G.O.A.T. (2019).
Kenny Muney is a native of South Memphis, he grew up idolizing rappers like Lil Wayne, Gucci Mane, and Boosie Badazz. He started rapping at age 15, developing his aggressive aesthetic and honing his deeply rhythmic flow. Kenny got his first brush with fame when he released “YTN Freestyle,” which racked up over 2 million YouTube views, made him a neighborhood hero, and earned airplay on local radio.
Muney, whose mind was set on rapping at a very early age, started recording in the late 2010 s, self-releasing tracks and mixtapes. The defiant anthem "Don't Know Me," off Who Am I, got the attention of major-label Atlantic and led to a deal announced in . "Testimony" and the nine-track set Baby G.O.A.T., the latter of which boasted appearances from Memphis dwellers BlocBoy JB and Tay Keith, were out by the end of the year. This was followed in February 2020 with Muney's reflective "Leave Some Day."
I’m never satisfied,” says Kenny Muney.
“It’s a gift and a curse.
I’m always looking for the next step.”
Unfortunately, this diplomat status doesn’t come with immunity.
Two months after dropping his Mud 2 Muney 2 tape, Kenny suffered minor gunshot wounds.
He shrugged it off and kept performing on crutches, only to survive another shooting at a show a week later.
Kenny may be the most crossover-ready rapper on the list by virtue of being the least callous.
For the foreseeable future, he’s locked in with in-house producer Ace Charisma, but plans to drop a tape with Tay Keith soon.
