Arrest
On October 21, 2019, Turner was indicted on charges of murder, child abuse, and charitable fraud related to the death of Olivia Gant, whose "bucket list" garnered media attention in 2017.
Turner is also accused of defrauding the Medicaid system of more than $538,000, deceptively raising $22,270 from GoFundMe and $11,264 from Make-A-Wish Foundation, and ripping off a funeral home and cemetery, according to a copy of the grand jury indictment provided to Buzzfeed News. She also allegedly lied to doctors about her other daughter’s cancer diagnosis. The other daughter, who is now 11, has never been diagnosed with cancer, the indictment said.[1][2][4]
Olivia's Death
Turner said Olivia was diagnosed with neurogastrointestinal encephalomyopathy, a disease that attacks many of the body’s vital organs.[2] Olivia died on August 20, 2017, after what her obituary claimed was a "long battle" with a "rare disease" that her mother said led to intestinal failure. Before her death, several local and national news outlets featured the little girl fulfilling her "bucket list" wishes to be a police officer and a firefighter.[1] After her death, Children's Hospital Colorado doctors expressed alarm to human services employees about the nature of the death and events that led up to it.[2] [4]
