Biography
Early Life
Kayla Sprinkles grew up in Hayesville, North Carolina and graduated from Hayesville High School in 2009. Kayla was on the school's track and field team and a ran 5 km personal best of 23 minutes and 68 seconds.
Personal Life
Kayla Sprinkles enjoys CrossFit and posted several photos about it on Pinterest. She is also a fan of country music and liked the Facebook pages of country artists including Cody Johnson, Dolly Parton, Jacob Bryant, and the Davenport Brothers.
Career
Kayla Sprinkles at Andrews High School
Kayla Sprinkles taught social studies at Andrews High School within the Cherokee County Schools district from 2016-2017. She coached the cross country and softball team. Kayla was previously the assistant girls basketball and softball coach. [1]
Legal Issues
On June 7, 2018 Kayla Sprinkles was arrested by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and charged with five counts of Sex Activity With a Student.
[1] On March 26th, 2018 the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into a report that Kayla Sprinkles, had engaged in sex acts with a student while employed as a teacher in a high school for the Cherokee County Schools System.
During the investigation several search warrants were executed in which items of evidence were collected. Additionally numerous individuals were interviewed who provided information relevant to the case. The HAVEN Child Advocacy Centers assisted in some of the interviews due to the age of the individuals interviewed.
The information from the investigation was presented to the June 4th, 2018 Cherokee County Grand Jury which indicted Kayla Sprinkles on five counts of the charge, Sex Activity With a Student.
Kayla Sprinkles gained knowledge, possibly through a social media posting, of the existence of the indictments and left from the local area and surrendered herself to the Mecklenburg County Detention Center where she was served with the indictments and was released on a $25,000 unsecured bail. Sprinkles is expected to be in Cherokee County Courthouse on Monday, July 2, 2018.

It is incumbent upon all of us to ensure their safety and wellbeing as they grow and mature.”
