Kayla is the wife of Jose Ismael Torres and they both have three children together in Marietta, Georgia. They were both members of the "Respect the flag" movement of White supremacists and Skinheads involved with KKK rallies and so on.
She attended Campbell High School. [1]
Racist Attack
On July 24th and 25th, 2015, the Kayla and her husband were one of the main organizers of a sizable caravan of pick -up trucks and other vehicles that traveled around Douglas County with Confederate Battle Flags. The caravan was an event related to the group "Respect the Flag". The convoy of KKK supporting pick-up trucks threatened African-American motorists, yelled at them, and walked up to one of their cars with a gun. They also threatened African American shoppers at a Paulding County Walmart and at a convenience store.
Yet, what the group are known for is a confrontation that also occurred during the two period when the convoy of drove around many areas of town.
The confrontation was at an 8 year-old boy's birthday party.
According to other testimony, it all started after a member from the party through rocks at the group who were also present at the park where the party took place.
They then yelled racist slurs and threatened the birthday revelers with a shotgun.
The 8 year-old's birthday party was interrupted.
Torres and Norton acted with the full knowledge that, less than a month earlier, white supremacist Dylann Roof had massacred nine African-Americans at a Charleston church.
The convoy of White supremacists violated the Street Gang Terrorism law.
Sentencing
The husband and wife both wept as they were given their sentences.
Torres was convicted of aggravated assault, making terroristic threats, and a violating street-gang statute - he received 13 years in prison and another seven on probation.
His wife, Norton, was convicted of making terroristic threats and violating the gang law, will serve 6 years in prison and nine on probation.
