Katie Rough was a student at Westfield Primary Community School, Two weeks before her tragic death, she was the bridesmaid at her mother's wedding.
She was remembered as a thoughtful child who was well-liked by both her pupils and staff.
Her headmaster described her as hardworking and showed a particular talent for creative writing.
Death
On January 9, 2017, dog walkers are believed to have come across Katie Rough lying on the grass just yards from a quiet cul-de-sac in York.
Her parents were quickly on the scene and watched in horror as the emergency services fought in vain to save their daughter.
