Katie LaGrone (born November 12, 1983) is an Investigative journalist for E. W. Scripps Company. She is an award-winning investigative journalist in United States.
Early life & relationship
Katie was born and raised in Florida. She is married to WFTS News Anchor “Paul LaGrone”. They are blessed with two lovely young boys. Whenever Katie is kind of free on her job, she enjoys hiking, strolling through gourmet grocery store and loves to grill with her children.
Professional life
Katie pursuit for the truth to fight for positive change that will affect the people and community has been more than a decade-long journey.
In February 2006, she was the first broadcast journalist to expose restaurants within the community serving customers substitute fish.
The investigation spawned an international investigation by the Food and Drug Administration which later resolved the issue. That report alone won Katie a “National Edward R. Murrow Award” and global recognition.
Katie’s reports can be seen on “WTXL ABC 27” in Tallahassee, “ABC Action News” in Tampa, “WPTV NewsChannel 5” in West Palm Beach and “FOX 4” in Fort Myers.
Her love for unveiling the truth has make her global personality.
As an Investigative reporter, she is known for her works in exposing a large range of consumer injustices, questionable government expenditures and consumer safety concerns which includes all Floridians.
Katie has spent 6 years as an investigative reporter for "WPTV" helping in creating the better Florida community free from consumer injustice. She exposes the dangers of keyless cars in 2017. Shortly after her series of reports, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced they will propose new rules that will protect consumers and also help prevent more careless deaths around the country.
She and her team on investigating report at WPTV has partnered up with the Palm Beach post for an unprecedented look into deputy-involved shootings in Palm Beach County in 2015. Katie’s investigative reports have earned her big time accolades including over a dozen Emmy’s, Associated Press Awards and several Edward R. Murrow Awards in Florida.
