She was born on October 3, 1989 as Karen Villarreal in San Antonio, Texas. She grew up in a large family together with her cousins and nephews.^[2]

She took part in the Miss Texas USA 2008 Pageant when she was 19 and she became the first runner-up and became Miss San Antonio. In the next year she won the ‘Connexion’s hottest Latina’ title.
