Karen Murphy

Karen Murphy is a woman from Reno, Nevada who was gifted a puppy after returning a stolen puppy she had bought to an owner.

In the Media

In , Karen Murphy appeared in the news as a person who helped a stolen puppy and its owner unite. In Autumn 2019, Karen bought a 4-month-old German Shepherd puppy without knowing that it had been stolen from Kate Mann, who had originally named him Little Dude.[1][2]

Little Dude was stolen from Mann’s vehicle parked outside a convenience store on Sun Valley Boulevard on October 18, 2019. Mann obtained surveillance photos of the suspects from the convenience store she was parked outside and filed a report with the department on October 22.[1][2]

After tracking down and arresting the suspects, the deputies Asa Aninao and Nicholas Ediss discovered the dog had been sold to Karen Murphy.

Murphy said that she purchased the dog for $50 after hearing about him from her friend's acquaintance.

She also said he wasn't in the best condition, but she was able to take care of him, nursing Little Dude back to health.[4]

Karen Murphy willingly gave up the pup. But Mann wanted to ensure that her gain was not Murphy’s loss. She knew that Little Dude had a sister, so she contacted the breeder and, as an act of kindness, bought that puppy for Murphy.[1][3]
