Karan Oberoi, also referred with his initials KO (pronounced as “Kay-oh”) is an Indian model and actor.[1][2] He is one of the most recognisable male models in the Indian modelling business, hailed for his muscular physique in an industry dominated by extremely slim models. KO is known for being associated with leading brands such as Royal Enfield bikes, Isuzu and Reebok India.[7] He has been fronted many magazines covers such as Men’s Health and walked the ramp for big names in the fashion modelling industry since he entered the business. Ever since he got his first modelling break while working for leading advertising firm back in 2011, he’s been the star of numerous fashion shows, campaigns, and brand ambassador and face of leading fashion and fitness brands. Early life & education
Karan was born on 26th September 1987 in the capital city of India, New Delhi in a Sikh family. He was born to father Mr. G.S.Oberoi[5], his father used to work in a higher management position and was in charge of the foreign International Business in one of the reputed Banks of India. His mother, Dr. Mrs Jasvinder Oberoi aka Ruby, is an associate professor of Hindi literature in one of the colleges in University of Delhi. [6] Karan has one younger sister, her name is Ishween Sahiba, who is an MBA and works with a private firm.[5] Being born in the upper-middle class and highly educated family his roots are still the same, Karan besides being one of the top male models in the country enjoys reading motivational books in his free time rather watching movies. KO is also a holder of two double postgraduate degrees which is also a big exception as a model.
KO completed his graduation in Bcom (H) from S.G.G.S College of commerce (University of Delhi) and then completed his masters in journalism from DU and MBA in international business from Amity International School, Noida.[9] Karan has not just done modelling in all these years but also has shared a lot of awareness regarding health, lifestyle, fashion, modelling and how to get them all. Karan despite being a part of glamour world has never indulged in any of the vices such as smoking and drinking alcohol. Moreover, he refused to model for many brands that were associated with cigarette and pan masala. While growing up he was a big fan of Michael Jackson and wrestler Hit Man Heart. [3][6]
Career
Karan started his career as a graphic designer with renowned advertising firm Grey worldwide.
While working for an advertising firm he got an offer to model for a brand.
He enjoyed modeling work and started pursuing modeling full time and moved to Mumbai to pursue it further. Today he is one of the few models in India who has been successful both in fashion and fitness modelling.
As a fashion model he has walked the ramp in more than 300 plus shows across the world especially in the Middle East. He has also walked ramp for top-notch brands such as Aldo,Peter England, Jack & Jones, Lamborghini, FTV, Shoppers Stop and McDowell’s Signature and for famous Indian designers such as Rohit Bal, Varun Behl, Shantanu and Nikhil, Rajesh Pratap Singh and Arjun Khanna. He has walked at Lakme Fashion Week, India Couture Week, GQ Nights and Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week and has truly earned the supermodel tag! KO has also worked with more than a hundred commercial and fashion photographers from all over the country, few of the famous names include Dabboo Ratnani, Rafique Sayed, Amit Khanna, Tarunn (Banglore), Suvo Das and Rahul Dutta.[10] Karan Oberoi aka KO has been the poster boy of Fashion Big Bazaar apparel line for two consecutive years. He has modelled for some of the famous brands like Royal Enfield Bike’s Riding Apparel, Japanese Automobile brand Isuzu and Reebok India. He has appeared on the cover for well known Magazines such as Health & Nutrition and Men's Health. He has also been the face of famous fitness brands such as Viva Fitness and British Nutrition. Being a model he has also done many fashion and fitness editorials for renowned publications and magazines such as Hindustan Times. Karan was official lifestyle model for Hindustan Times in year 2018.[6][10][11][12]
Awards & recognition
Karan Oberoi was appointed as “World Peace Messenger” by WPDO closely associated with United Nations on 16th June 2018.
Awarded as “THE YOUTH ICON” Model of the year at Second Global leadership awards at ITC Hotel, Mumbai on 7th April 2018.
Karan was nominated for this award for being an inspiration among youth who follow his style and fitness.
Karan was also listed under “Top 10 supermodels of India” list released by leading India’s newspaper Hindustan times “Brunch magazine” in march 2018 same list has voted Karan Oberoi as ‘Top fitness model’.
He won the title of 'Best Body' at Mr. India International, modelling event.
KO was labelled as "Hottie of the fortnight" by Filmfare magazine.[1]
