Kara Nortman is a Partner at Upfront Ventures. She is based in Los Angeles, California.

Kara received her B.A. in Politics from Princeton University in 1997 and earned her MBA from Stanford University in 2004.

Early in her career, Nortman worked at Morgan Stanley, Microsoft, and Battery Ventures. She became VP of M&A at IAC where she served as a board member to Hatch Labs, IAC’s mobile technology incubator. It was at this position where Kara became a seed investor and advisor to Tinder. Some of Kara's most notable M&A's at IAC include Urbanspoon, Dictionary.com and Aston Hotels. Kara worked her way up to the role of Senior Vice President and General Manager of Urbanspoon and Citysearch.

In 2013, Kara founded Moonfrye a children’s e-commerce company which merged to become Seedling.

In November 2014, she joined Upfront Ventures as a Partner.

In 2017/2018, Kara has shown an interest in blockchain technology.
