Kara Coppa is the Co-founder, COO, and Executive Vice President of BLAKFX, a cyber security startup that is developing what it claims to be the world's most secure cryptocurrency, exchange and wallet. Coppa is based in Little Falls, New Jersey. [1]
Education
Coppa earned both a Bachelor of Science (2002) and a Master of Science (2004) in Information Systems from the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). [1]
Career
Coppa began her career at Norvergence, where she worked as an Information Security Engineer from 2002 to 2003. Coppa then joined Nova Mission Critical, where she was a Senior Information Assurance Engineer from 2003 to 2005. Coppa took a brief detour into Public service and worked as a Senior Information Security Manager for the United States Department of Defense from 2005 to 2007. After leaving DoD, Coppa cofounded her first startup, United Alert, and served as its Senior Vice President from 2007 to 2009. Concurrently, from 2007 to 2012 Coppa was Vice President of Global Information Security at Bank of New York Mellon. Coppa left BNY Mellon in 2012 and cofounded her second startup, Wickr, where she served as its Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief Product Officer (CPO) until 2015. Following a brief stint as Senior Vice President of Cyber-Security Services at SIG Homeland Security, a defense contractor, Coppa cofounded BLAKFX in 2017 and presently serves as its Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Executive Vice President.
