Kami Bussert Gilstrap was a resident of Goodyear who died of a sudden gunshot while being present near a legal swath of U.S.-owned land in Arizona where people are allowed to target practice. ^{[0] [2]}

Gilstrap was born and raised in the state of Oklahoma. She lived in the city of Bethany for most of her upbringing. She was a 2012 graduate of Bethany High School. ^[1]

Before her death, she was expecting her first baby with her husband, Kami Gilstrap, an airman stationed at Luke Air Force Base. The couple lived in the city of Glendale. ^{[6] [1] [5]}

After high school, she attended Southern Nazarene University where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Elementary education. ^[1]

She and her long time boyfriend, Black Gilstrap, tied the knot on September 5th, 2015.

Some time after college and marrying Blake, the couple moved to Goodyear, Arizona where she worked as a Nanny in the town of Litchfield Park. ^{[1] [5]}

On January 14th, 2018, while attending a shooting range about 30 miles west of Phoenix in the desert near Buckeye, Kami was struck in the chest. She was present with family members when she was shot and transported via helicopter to the nearest hospital for treatment. She was later pronounced dead. ^{[2] [3] [0]}
