Justin Welch killed a Memphis Police Officer Verdell Smith and shot three other men on Saturday June 5, 2016 in downtown Memphis, Tennessee.

Welch shot two men sitting outside at Westy's, a Memphis bar then shot a Bass Pro Shops employee collecting carts in the parking lot. Welch then fled in a car, and fatally struck Officer Verdell Smith who was clearing traffic.

The two men shot at the bar were hospitalized in critical condition.

The man shot at the Bass Pro Shop was treated and released from a hospital.

Justin Welch, 21, faces multiple charges that include first-degree murder, vehicular homicide, attempted first-degree Murder, evading arrest and theft of property over $10,000. Welch is being held at the Shelby County Jail.
