On Saturday, January 20, 2018 opened fire on police and shot a homeowner before stealing his car.

The incident began at around 6:00 a.m. when a police officer heading home noticed a suspicious person near Monarch Meadows Apartments near 13400 South 4500 West in Herriman, Utah and was shot at when he made contact with him. ^{[2] [1] [0]}

A foot chase ensued, but Llewelyn was able to flee and broke into a home, where he shot the resident and took his car.
