Justin E. Speights
Justin E. Speights
Justin E. Speights was loved by almost everyone in the town of Scotchtown, New York.
Many times he had sacrificed his time in order to attend emergencies, accidents, fires, etc. [1]as a prominent volunteer firefighter whose hard work earned the trust and respect from the Silver Lake Fire District.
Justin had plenty of friends that can testify to his outgoing and friendly personality [4]that it is strange that at the promising age of 20 years old, he would be stabbed to death as he entered the new year on January 1, 2016.
[2]The incident apparently occurred as he tried to break-up a fight.
[2]And, after New York state police has conducted more than 250 hundred interviews landing at least 300 leads, they have yet to affirm who was responsible as they are offering $20,000 for the identity of the murderer.
Even though state police have conducted extensive interviews they have no formidable leads because apparently there were no eyewitnesses to the stabbings therefore no identifiable suspect has been found.
He was most beloved for his efforts of protecting his town by becoming one of the most respected volunteer firefighter for Silver Lake Fire Department since the age of 16.
[5] Many of his partners at the station illuminate the kind of spirit Justin possessed as a young man by using the following words to describe him: “hero,” “selfless,” and “angel.”
[1]He was also an honor student and excellent football player with athletic ability.
Besides being a stand-up guy, he was considered by many people he knew him to be a selfless individual.
When new firefighters who volunteer ask what to do - the fire chief, Joe Morstatt, and public information officer Jeff Jaques, are on record as saying:
“If we had 10 of Justin, we’d be unstoppable,” - Morstatt.
“They’d be writing books about us,” - Jaques [1]
“An exceptionally beautiful child,”
“He was my son.”
- Arroyo [1]
Justin E. Speights aspired to be a New York City firefighter.
[1]He was a young man that was constantly active, flowing through the days as best he could with all his effort.
His mother, Lisa Speights, is shocked that some of the people who attended the party have refused to give statements to the cops in fear of being singled out for under age drinking.
[11]His mother is on record as saying the following statements:
"It’s my worst nightmare come true,"
In regards to some of the people at the party not speaking out: "I’m not shocked, more so pissed off,"
"Someone lost their life,"
"That is more important.
I don’t understand that."
“It could have been their child,”
"They would want someone to come forward and speak up."
In regards to her son's body, "I couldn’t even touch him,"
“They wouldn’t let me touch him.
I wanted to touch him one last time.”
"He could have been so much more,"
At his funeral, a large crowd gathered - the many people that Justin E. Speights had affected throughout his life were present: "He was going in the right direction, doing all the right things.
Why him?"[11]
