Johnny Orlando (January 24, 2003) is a YouTube Star alongside his older sister Darian. [1]
Musical Career
Johnny Orlando started to become popular through his videos uploaded to the YouTube that started from December 2011 and by September 2016 he had more than a million subscribers. The videos that he initially uploaded were covers for 40 of the topmost pop songs which got him a fan base of thousands and thousands of young music lovers.
He has performed covers of pop songs by artists such as Austin Mahone and Justin Bieber for his videos. His Video blog channel is titled Johnny Logs. He started making videos when he was 8 years old and Darian was 13. He and Darian have created videos for original songs titled "Summertime," "Replay," and "Never Give Up." He's a spokesperson for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. He was born in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. He has an older sister named Madison and a younger sister named Lauren. He also covered songs by Rihanna for his YouTube channel. [1]
In the past few years he has garnered more than 200 million views which helped him to move away from making covers to producing albums containing his original songs.
He released his debut EP named ‘VXIIXI’ in December 2015 and the single ‘Let Go’ in June 2016.
This single was a hit all over the world and climbed to the top rankings of the ‘iTunes’ chart for pop music.
He has also appeared in the short film ‘Fading Light’ in the role of ‘Bully’ and lent his voice to a couple of Television program such as ‘Wishenproof’ and ‘Spaced’ to the roles of ‘Oliver’ and a minicab driver respectively though they are uncredited. He was nominated for the ‘Teen Choice Award 2016’ as the ‘Choice Web Star: Music.’
Background
Johnny Orlando grew up in a middle class family with his older and younger sisters.
He was interested in music, sports and playing with his friends from a very young age.
When he was eight years old and his older sister Darian was 13, they made a video cover of Justin Bieber’s famous song ‘Mistletoe’ and posted it on YouTube. It became an instant hit with the teenaged music lovers and kids and they wanted more covers of the same type. By the first week his cover had received more than two thousand views. This launched his music career on the YouTube and he started making more video covers with the help of his sister and soon reached celebrity status. His younger sister Lauren is also a YouTuber who does challenges and skits often with Johnny.[6]
