John Hetlinger is an 82 year old retiree from South Dakota who lives in Bloomfield, Colorado. ^[7]John was a U.S. Navy pilot who flew jets ^[16]from 1956-1959. ^[7]15 years ago he retired from Aerospace Engineering as the Program Manager Corrective Optics Space Telescope Axial Replacement (COSTAR). ^[26]COSTAR was an instrument designed to align Hubble Space Telescope's spherical aberration.

One of the activities that John enjoys is signing and practicing karaoke.

America's Got Talent

On June 7th, 2016, America's Got Talent brought out John as part of their bizarre and unexpected acts they usually allow to participate during the audition phase. Simon Cowell, Howie Mandell, Mel B and Heidi Klum were left completely stunned when he began singing a cover of the Heavy Metal song “Bodies” by Drowning Pool. He was voted to move on to the next round. ^[25]
