Joan Yambing was a 19-year-old from Rosemount, Minnesota. [10]
Life and Activities
Joan was born in Pasig in the Philippines but moved to Rosemount, Minnesota at a young age. [10]She attended Rosemount High School and graduated in 2016. [10]Joan went on to become a student at Creighton University where she majored in computer science. [11]She played an active role in the Campus Ministry and was a Deanโs Fellow in the College of Arts and Sciences. [11]Joan had the goal to publish her poetry, and in mid-August 2017 accomplished it by coming out with her work Roots of a Wildflower: A Collection of Poems through the Teenage Years. [11] [17]Joan is remembered for her kindness, generosity, and knowing how to make other people smile. [12]
Death
During the morning of August 21st, Joan and friends were driving to see the solar eclipse on Interstate 80 when a semi-truck failed to notice that their Toyota Prius slowed down in front of it. The semi-truck collided with the Prius and after crashed into a Chrysler Sebring convertible, which in turn forced the convertible into another semi-truck. Joan was killed in the crash. Her friends were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. [13]
