Jesus Campos is a Security guard of Hispanic background known to be the first to be shot by Las Vegas mass shooter, Stephen Paddock, minutes before the onslaught of bullets rained down on the attendees of the Route 91 Harvest Country music festival. ^[undefined]

As a Security guard for the Mandalay Bay Resort, Jesus is known for being one of the prime witnesses in the Las Vegas Mass shooting perpetrated by Stephen Paddock. ^[undefined]

On the evening of October 1st, 2017, Jesus was working the night shift at the hotel when the alarm to the 32nd floor go off.

He went up to the floor to investigate.

While on the 32nd floor, he found that a stairwell door was jammed and radioed down to maintenance.

The maintenance worker arrived and the two began a discussion about the jammed the door.

As the two spoke, Stephen Paddock open fired through the door of his room with a single fire gun. Paddock then switched to a rapid fire rifle. At one of those moments, one of the bullets impacted Campos' upper leg. Campos radioed in to the police the location of Paddock. ^[undefined]

Moments later, Paddock would go on to commit one of the biggest Mass shootings in US History. While on the 32nd floor Paddock used Automatic rifles with a Bump fire stock / Slide Fire stock to shoot down on thousands of civilians enjoying a live concert by Jason Aldean- the last act on the Route 91 Harvest country music festival. 59 people died, about 200 people were injured in the shooting. ^{[undefined] [undefined]}

After about a week and half after the shooting, a controversy unfolded when a key detail in the investigation caused a change from the original timeline of the shooting committed by Paddock.

In the most recent timeline, the police had Paddock's location roughly 6 minutes before he started shooting civilians.

Campos had actually been shot about 9:59 p.m.—a full six minutes before the mass shooting began at 10:05 p.m.—which means the guard could have instead led Paddock to start opening fire on the crowd for fear of being caught.

On Thursday, October 12th, 2017, Campos was scheduled to do an interview with various news outlets when moments before his appearance, he disappeared.
